ACTIVE! JUNE 17th -- Wonderful home in a GREAT NEIGHBORHOOD! This home is being offered for less than assessed value: (improvements assessed at $564,000; land assessed at $126,000). This home is really loved, by the sellers, the original owners. Seller owned solar panels. This house has a tube slide off the deck in the backyard! It also has a small garden playhouse, and a large outdoor chalkboard. The water heater, AC, gas heater, and refrigerator are new. The disposal is 1 year old. The stove and the microwave are "as is". All carpeting in the lower level, appliances, and gas fireplace convey as is. The washer and dryer are not new, but work well. The freezer does not convey. There is a 2nd shed under the deck. The backyard is fenced on 3 sides and is backed by empty lots. Both Comcast and Verizon are available. This home has a sprinkler system in case of fire. Rain barrels provide extra water to use outside. There are various fruit trees and perennial flowers, including roses. The landscaping includes a flower garden in the front, a trellis on the side near the driveway, and some terraced areas for vegetable gardening in the back yard. (Trash pick-up included in taxes. Special tax has been paid off. No HOA.) There is a bus stop on 193. College Park Metro is just under 2 miles, Greenbelt Metro is a bit further. There is also a MARC train stop at both stations. Close to the Beltway: only 1.3 miles to the west (at Route 1), and 2.1 miles to the east (at Kennilworth). The College Park Trolley Trail (for biking, walking, or pushing a stroller) is only one house away; it goes to the Berwyn Neighborhood Park and to the University of Maryland campus. This trail follows where the old trolley tracks were. (In 1902 the streetcar went from DC to Laurel, much of it was incorporated into bike trails). There are several parks in the area and many trails as well. This area has a variety of homes — some are from the 1900s and some fairly new, like this one. This section of College Park is part of the old town of Berwyn. Berwyn was divided into 2 parts by the railroad tracks. There is a walking bridge (it is a ramp -- with no stairs) over the tracks at Berwyn Rd. On the other side is Lake Artemesia and also one of the "Prince George’s County Imagination Playgrounds," just off Indian Creek. There is also a coin-operated electric car charger there. Less than a mile from the house, as the crow flies, is the oldest continually-operating airport in the world, where there were many firsts, and there is now a museum. Many good restaurants and places to shop dot this area. It's only about a mile and a half from Beltway Plaza Mall where there is a Giant, Burlington Coat Factory, T.J. Maxx, Target, and Marshalls, as well as various restaurants. Restaurants which are close to the house include lots of fast food restaurants such as: Popeyes, KFC, Wendy's, McDonalds, Checkers, Little Caesar's, etc. and also sit-down restaurants such as: The Silver Diner, The Iron Pig (Korean BBQ), and Tacos a la Madre (on Berwyn Road just a few streets south of Tecumseh in College Park), and there are many more on Route 1, both north and south of the university. There is a 7-11 just across 193, only a few blocks away. (This home is inside of College Park. If you are working for the University, be sure to ask about their grant program for those purchasing inside the city of College Park.)
